My computer always restarts 2 or 3 days a time when the Symantec 10.0.1.1000 is installed on the winXP OS

If you disable or uninstall Symantec, does the problem go away?

If your problem does go away, try running Symantec CleanWipe and then reinstalling Symantec 10.  You can only get CleanWipe by calling Symantec Support or submitting an online case and requesting it.

Are you getting any popup windows before shutdown?
Did you run a full system scan in safe mode...
If you have a license then go for a upgrade you can use SEP which has lot of features.
