  • 1.  Help with "SEE Client has detected that another session is running" message

    Just started to encrypt our laptops and one of the test laptops is getting the following message....
    "SEE Client has detected that another session is running. The program cannot be run in multiple sessions. If you want to continue to use the program, please switch to the session in which SEE Client was originally started."  Any advice on how to fix this and what caused it?

    Seems like see client packages were installed on the machine and then were uninstalled. I would recommend you as this is a test machine decrypt the machine >> uninstall see >> reboot the machine >> make sure there is no see >> then install see either via GPO | third party application or manually on the machine. Check then also if the error message comes up.

    BTW what is the make and model of the machine ??
    OS ??
    32bit or 64 bit??
    see version??

    The laptop is a Ergo Vista 631
    Windows XP 32 bit
    see version  7.0.4

    Prior to this install all Symantec software was uninstalled and the registry cleaned, The program directory was also deleted to
    make sure.

    Any other ideas?

    Ergo machines are not very common generally we see Dell's and HP. Just would like to verify do you have another machine of same make and model -- is the same behaviour seen on the other machine too ???

     

    Also the error message comes up after you've installed SEE on the client machine >> then you reboot >> come up to a working desktop >> then this error message comes up ?? or when you try opening see client console then this error message comes up ???

    Unfortunately this was purchased as a one off for the testing of SEE. So far other makes of laptops have not displayed this message. The message appears after the laptop is booted and just as the client icon appears on the taskbar.

    There is one thing you can try I believe see has a new version now 705 with them -- contact symantec tech support and try getting client packages for 705 (NOT SERVER installers). Install these client files on this laptop and then check if this resolves the issue ....

    I have that problem on HP Compaq 6510b with Windows 7. Have someone any solution?
