Help writing a report in Backup Exec

Created: 21 Mar 2013 | 3 comments

Every single day (excepting weekends) we access backup exec and log every job, 1 by 1, finding out what jobs ran on what tape in our Quantum PX720. I've been trying to write a report to do this for us, but so far my reports just hang the program or don't get the results I want. Is there any way to write a report that will give me job name and media (tape) number? I'm also wondering if there's a way to get a report with the same info and a byte count per job. (in bytes, kb, mb, doesn't matter). This is neccessary for logging we do, and would save almost 40 hours a month.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Please specify the version of Backup exec you are using. Also you may try to use the custom report and can choose the options you want in the report. As far as the console getting hanged is concerned you may check if Backup exec is upto date and have latest patces installed on it.

It'll be some time before I can pull the other info. What I can say is I tried creating a custom report but it wasn't giving me the info I needed, so I was hoping someone on here was fluent or "good" with wriiting them in Backup Exec so I can get a leg up. If not, no problem, I can experiment with witing my own till I get it to do what I want.

We are using Media Server and Admin Console Version 13.0 Revision 5204 (64-bit). If anyone happens to know what fields to select that would be peachy.

Thanks for the info!
