Helo. I'm reading the NetBackup 7.5 Manual and I have a question about Storage Lifecycle Policy.
If I have confogured, for example, an SLP with:

Backup (Retention period 2 week) and a Duplication from that backup (Retention period 2 week)

When NetBackup make the Duplication? It is done finish of Backup or after to expire retention period of Backup?

When the backup is made, it has the retention period of infinity.
Only after the duplication is successfully made, will the retention period of the backup copy revert to the retention period of 2 weeks.
It's as simple as that.

When NetBackup make the Duplication?

As soon as possible after the backup has completed.

Duplication will start when:

  1. MIN_GB_SIZE_PER_DUPLICATION_JOB value is reached (default is 7)
  2. MAX_MINUTES_TIL_FORCE_SMALL_DUPLICATION_JOB is reached (default is 30)

The above is covered in the manual under LIFECYCLE_PARAMETERS topic.

Thanks Marianne, didn't quite figure out the question - though he was asking about when the retention period is changed of the backup copy.
