Hi All,
We have been getting an error about off host backup failing, however, the off host backup has not been specified in the Advanced Disk - Based backup options menu?
Another error talks about not being able to use the snapshot, however, once again the option is not selected in the advanced open fie options menu?
Is there some other process that is causing this?
Thanks in advance

What is the exact error which you receive & what type of data is being backed up ?
V-79-10000-11243 - VSS Snapshot error. No volumes were successfully imported to the Backup Exec server for backup while running the offhost backup. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.
And
- Snapshot Technology: Initialization failure on: "\\server name \S:". Snapshot technology used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
Both options are disabled in the backup selection.

If backing up Windows 2008 or R2 (Applies to few other applications too), VSS is used by default irrespective of AOFO being enabled or not in the backup job. And if there is a hardware vss provider present, then this provider would be tried first to take a snapshot.
Explicitly select it to use the Microsoft volume shadow copy provider (use system vss) from the AOFO options & see if the backup fails.
Lastly, if the backup fails, check the status of the VSS writers on the remote server by running vssadmin list writers from cmd.
Hi,
I have setup a new server for backing up and it all seems to be working now.
Thanks for all your support
