how to add to a selection list using bemcmd command

Created: 08 Mar 2013 | 5 comments

I tried to add a selection to my current selection list using bemcmd.  The selection is related to my on linux server that has some issues with it mount points. The server was turned off ( power plug) by mistake a week ago and when the server came back up, the backup of the server takes too too too long tme to backup.  It use to take 2 hours and it now take over 12 hours ( cancel it).

Currently, the selection list backs up  all the entire linux server but I only want to backup a few directories and not the entire server.    When I try to modify the selection list using the GUI interface the server name does not appear in the 'Favorites Resources'<linux/unix server> list.

I tried using bemcmd to add a new selection to the list but I get the following errors:

Backup Exec Command Line Applet version 13.0.5204.

Maybe you need to use the -s switch to specify the name of the media server.

Also, the error messages suggest that there are errors in the script file containing the selection list.

Make sure that the variant of your Linux server is supported.  See the SCL below

the -s is for the selection list name and not the media server.
