How are you supposed to Backup Hyper-V 2012 with SMBv3 Storage?

Created: 11 Feb 2014 | 1 comment

I have 6 x HyperV Servers

All the storage is a on a 2012 SOFS Storage Array using SMBv3 to present to the HyperV Servers

Connection is 2 x 10GBaseT

Backup Sever is latest 2012 V-Ray with De-Dup and 70TB of iSCSI storage.

But - I get

One or more virtual machines that use remote VHD or VHDX files were excluded from the backup. Use the Backup Exec Agent for Windows on the virtual machine for backup and restore operations.

And in the readme I find:

"Virtual machines that are configured with remote storage are skipped during backup jobs. The job log contains a message about the skipped jobs."

So err, politely, how is one supposed to backup a standard 2012 HyperV farm with Backup Exec VRay 2012?

Thanks

Paul

This means that you cannot backup the VM's as VM's because of the remote disks.  You need to load the remote agents into the VM's and back them up as if they are physical machines.
