Can't recall one if the file within the directory is mixed/not known

If you know the file types, you could deploy a exclude list - that would mean only the file structure is due for backup.

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.

If this post answered your'e qustion -  Please mark as a soloution.

I cannot see a way... Maybe with exclude lists, but I can in all hosnesty not see a reason why anyone would need the structure without any data?

There is a command tree still available on windows to see the catalogs/directories hierarchy... Run it once a week to a file ;)

ie, assuming the drive D: containts the directory you want to 'save':

Open command prompt - cmd

cd d:

tree > outfile.txt

Here is example from one of the PCs next to me:

H:\>tree
Folder PATH listing for volume Data
Volume serial number is 0006EFC4 B4D6:A655
