hi
I want to create a rule in the SEP firewall to block youtube only and not block the google... this can be?
youtube and google use the same IPS??.. help me please
Thank you!
You need to block by domain name.
See here: Blocking a Website using Symantec Endpoint Protection
See here:
Hello,
Under DNS Domain type the name of the Website type *.youtube.com. This process shouldn't block google.
Are you facing any challenge to achieve this?
hi thanks for reply... does not work i put as DNS (* .youtube.com) and lock the google.com
It looks at domain name, regardless if same IP is used to host. What does your rule look like? Please post a screenshot here.
hi Brian thanks for reply.. this is screenshot
So, what you're saying is that when you block youtube by domain name it also blocks google?
Yes, exactly
If you check the traffic log do you see a block for that rule you created for google as well?
No only youtube
I'm not sure why google is affected then if the rule blocks by domain name.
When you remove the rule, google works?
Yes google works..
this is because youtube and google use same ips try nslookup in cmd DNS domain
nslookup www.google.com
nslookup www.youtube.com
?
I get different results.
At this point, open a support case so someone can remote in and look at this.
ok thanks you for support
