      Hi All,

We have a very sophisticated software that we have designed , it’s a complicated software to install it manually so there is a threat that it could be copied to another system by disk imaging using Ghost.

Can you please help me with the ways to prevent Ghost to copy my hard drive?

    Suresh,

Encrypt your hard drive; Ghost cannot bypass encryption. At best, Ghost could take a sector-by-sector copy, which, if restored, would still be encrypted.

    Thank you,

    Randy

    Hi Randy,

    Thank you for replying,

But i have a doubt, after i encrypt my hard disk,  will i be able to copy my  hard disk to another system and  use it ? because i don't want my hard drive to be copied and even if it is copied to another system, the softwares installed in my hard drive should not work in another system.

Can you also recomnend good encryption software that i can use?

Please help. Its very critical for me.

    Regards,
    Suresh Linga.

    Suresh,

If the drive is encypted, a raw image could indeed be restored to another machine, but without the encyption key, noone but you would be able to log in or access anything whatsoever. If you were to restore it to an identical machine and use your encryption key, it would be usable. But encryption would ensure you and only you could use it if it did indeed get copied.

I unfortunately don't have a recommendation on encryption software; I would recommend reading online reviews.

    Thank you,

    Randy

    Hi Randy,

    Thank you.

I have 30 desktop Computers in my office and it is difficult for me to have a password to each system. Even if i maintain the password i need to share it with my employees.
Can you please suggest if there any other way other than hard disk encryption to make ghost not to copy hard disk?

    Regards,
    Suresh Linga.

    Suresh,

You may consider a product like Vontu. As I understand, it is designed for this. Here is a link:

    http://www.symantec.com/business/theme.jsp?themeid=vontu

I'm not personally familiar with it, but it is designed to prevent data loss and protect confidential data.

    Thank you,

    Randy
