How can I remove a driver added to the Deploy Anywhere database?
I'd like to know how to remove drivers added to the Deploy Anywhere database. I added a driver thinking it would solve a problem, it didn't and is now just duplicating a driver that was already there. I get it and the previous network driver copied to the target machine after the installation so I'd like to be able to clean up drivers on that list. How do I do that? The driver list just says 'Add', there's no option or context menu to delete entries.
Another though about Deploy Anywhere.. It would also be great if certain video drivers could be added to the list for common videocards in use at a particular site, i.e. radeon drivers for example. There apparently is some way to do this but it seems it might be more hassle than simply having a 'drivers' directory in the common image you're installing.

Removing a driver
There is a method of doing this, but it is a bit convoluted. Here it is:
Confirm the Driver
1. Open the Ghost Boot Wizard (GBW)
2. Select WinPE as the Pre OS and click on the Edit button
3. Select either the WinPE or the WinPE-512 entries and click on the Edit button. You will now be viewing your network drivers - confirm that the one you want to remove is there.
Note: If the driver listed is gray and not black it cannot be removed
4. Click the Cancel button until you have exited the GBW
Remove the Driver
1.
Navigate to the WinDrivers folder. Default location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Ghost\Template\common\windrivers. folder for the NIC that is to be removed. Select this folder and either delete (or rename it). If you delete this folder it will reflect on the Deploy Anywhere driver list only. It will not delete it from the GBW list.
2. In this folder find a Template
3. Now open the Drivers.Manifest.Txt file in either the WinPE or the WinPE-512 folder. If you want to remove the driver from both entries in the GBW you will have to modify the Drivers.Manifest.Txt file in both folders.
Default locations:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Ghost\Template\common\winpe
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Ghost\Template\common\winpe-512
4. Open the file into Notepad
5. Go to Edit and Find and locate the desired driver entry and remove the section containing that driver
5. Save the file. If you want it removed from both the WinPe and the WinPE-512 in the GBW you must modify the Drivers.Manifest.Txt files in the respective folders.
Confirm the Removal
1. Open the GBW
2. Select WinPE as the Pre OS and click on the Edit button
3. Select either the WinPE or the WinPE-512 entries and click on the Edit button
4. You will now be viewing your network drivers - confirm that the driver you removed is no longer showing.
That works :)
Brilliant, thank you.
That did just the job. I tried finding that directory of drivers but didn't see the 'common' folder hidden among a lot of other directories under the 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Ghost\Template' directory.
Backwards run...
Could this be used in reverse in order to add drivers within an image, if they are not on the 'drivers' list?
How about service packs, patches or app replacement ( of course the easy way is deploy the ghost, modify and re-ghost).?
Thanks for the info
