We are starting to use NAS as repository for clients data. Is it possible to virus protect data on a NAS?

    You have two options:

Symantec offers a product specifically for this:

    Protection Engine for NAS

    http://www.symantec.com/protection-engine-network-attached-storage/

Or you could use SEP. You would need to create a maps to the drives then use SEP and create a custom scan within SEP to scan only those drives. This doesn't offer real-time protection though, only scanning.

Protection Engine for NAS would be real-time scanning

Would I setup drive mapping on SEP client or policy on SEPM? Would this setup quarantine viruses?

Would need to be done on the SEP client.

It would take action based on what you set..so yes, quarantine, delete, clean, etc.

Make sure the drive is already mapped on the system you're scanning from.

Open SEP  client >> Scan for Threats >> Create a New Scan >> select Custom Scan

In the directory tree select that mapped drive. The edit any other settings you needin subsequent screens and save it
