  • 1.  How to cascade exclusion groups for SEP

I would like to create exclusion (folders, extentions ...) for various Windows O/S versions (WS2003, WS2008, WS2008 R2, XP, WIn7 ...), for various SQL Server (SQL2005, SQL2008, SQL2008 R2), IIS 7 and various specific applications.  Because there are many combinations of those above items, I prefer to develop the exclusion in modular structure and cascade them to meet the need of various applications.  Is that doable with SEP 11 or SEP 12 ?  If yes, how to set up ?

I would create seaprate groups and assign each a different exception policy. Than you can apply applicable policy to the correct group.

This what you're wanting to do?

create a group for each requirement and may have inheritence if required.

@ Brian -  I can create different exception policies and link them to corresponding groups, but how to put a server into mutliple groups ?  I think you can assign a given server to only one group.

SEP clients cannot reside in multiple groups and they can only have 1 exception policy applied at a time
