  • 1.  How to check asset tracking history in asset management solution

    We using asset management solution 7.1

    Our requirement is, How to check asset tracking history in asset management solution.

    E.g. XYZ hostname desktop assing to Mr. John after 3 months he face some problem in that, he return that to IT dept. IT Dept gives a new desktop to Mr. John for temporary use again after few days later IT dept gives a origional i.e XYZ hostname desktop to that user. In this scenario how we get this asset moving history in asset management solution.

    OR in asset management solution under Manage Configuration Item --- Computer Can we see this history in that.

    Hello Vikasj,

    Resource change history you can find at Resource Manager on console.

    Manage -> Resource...  -> Select resource -> VIew -> Resource Change History

    Hi All,

     

     

    If i have newly  procured  Laptop without joining to AD \Workgroup how can i manage the asset.

    using only hardware serial no. ?

     

    currently after AD sync Altiris cmdb gets asset details , but the  systems which are not in network but assigned to users and the systems which are without hostname how to manage such systems.

    You can only truly manage a system once the sma is installed onto it.

    For machines that do not exist on the network, meaning that they cannot be discovered via the browsing nor AD Import methods, you can use data connector to import the details you currently have about them (mac address, serial number, uuid, etc), so that a computer resource gets created for them.  When these machines are finally given out to users, the sma should be given the existing resourceguid for that computer resource by the smp when it first sends basic inventory to it.

    Hi  SK ,

     

    Can we manage custom status of computer e.g.  "Allocated but not in network "  , " Repairs" etc.

    And also how to capture inevntory for these systems , where  Altiris agent can be installed but systems are not in network ...

    Yes, with Asset Management Solution you can create your own asst statuses and assign them to a resource.

    You best method would be to use StandAlone inventory, as you can configure it to send its data to either a local or network location instead of directly to the SMP.  This data can then be manually copied, or automatically if its a network share, to the SMP.

    If the systems will not even be switched on, then Barcode Solution will be the easiest way of tracking essential data.
