I'm new to Ghost.  I believe I have 11.*.  I have a bootable CD and trying to clone my hard drive from the CD if possible.

thanks.  Also, is there a tutorial with the steps.

It would be helpful to know for sure what version you have. If it is 11 then the bootable CD is likely to boot DOS which does not support SATA devices that are now standard fit in modern computers. If you have 11.5 then you are able to create a WinPE boot disk which is more compatible with modern hardware.

Have you consulted the documentation as that is the starting place if you are new to Ghost.

I am using Ghost 11.5 and it is working very well for me, but I would like to know if I have an image file.GHO and I am starting from an USB drive in DOS, is it a possibility to fully automate the process?

I am trying to simplify the process to the maximum for my parents, not computer’s geeks.

    Thanks

Yes, it is possible to full automate the process by putting the sequence of steps into Autoexec.bat on your DOS boot. However, before you do anything else, you need to boot to DOS on your parents' machine and make sure you can see the hard disk from DOS. If not, you either need to check the bios hard disk settings for "compatibility mode" and enable that, or use WinPE instead of DOS, adding the appropriate Vista 32 bit drivers for the SATA chipset on their machine.

Alternatively, you might want to investigate the option of providing a recovery partition on their machine in the way that most laptop vendors now ship their machines. This tends to use the imagex.exe that is part of WinPE instead of Ghost, but no doubt you can choose whichever you prefer.
