  • 1.  How to configure Child SEPM

    Posted Aug 27, 2013 09:17 PM

Hi, I have 1 SEPM installed in my datacenter. However, I need to have 3 child SEPM installed in different sites (different country). What is the procedure to set child SEPM  from datacenter and each of my sites??

    Thanks in advance.

    You can setup replication

Thumbup Brain, Replication is the way to manage the child sites with parent.

All sites typically have the same type of database. However, you can set up replication between one site that has an embedded database and a second site that has a Microsoft SQL Server database. If you use an embedded database, you can only connect one Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. If you use the Microsoft SQL Server, you can connect multiple management servers or share one database. Only the first management server needs to be set up as a replication partner.

    Hope that helps!!

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

Could you please provide the reason why you need additional SEPM's at three more sites.

A majority of small and medium-sized organizations need only a single site to centrally manage network security. Since each site has only one database, all data is centrally located.

Even a large organization with a single geographic location and fewer than 45-50,000 clients typically only needs one site. But for the organizations that are too complex to manage centrally, you should use a distributed management architecture with multiple sites.

Refer this article: Determining how many sites you need

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO55399

There is no such concept of child SEPM like Child DC (ADC) smiley.

You can configure and managed domain accounts differently.

Refer this article: Managing domains and administrator accounts

if its SEP SBE, i do not think replication can be achieved.
