you have to have the MSQL
you have to have the MSQL server (this is the one with the database) configured to have a FC card the is then attached to a Tape drive, you will need a Netbackup SSO license.
Following Guides will help
NetBackup SAN Client and Fibre Transport Troubleshooting Guide (Revision B) (updated July 15, 2008)

DOCUMENTATION: SAN Client Deployment - Best Practices and Performance Metrics

If these are virtual server OS's then you could use the LAN-free VCB proxy method.
Tip: Get overview/document your NBU environment. Run 'nbsu' and review the output.

Use the Windows servers as SAN Client
For configuring LAN Free backups , you will have to make the windows clients as SAN Clients and you will have to configure Fiber Transport Media Servers which connect to the SAN Fabric , these are different from the normal Media Servers
For Configuration check SSO Guide
Go to page number 145 , " SAN Client and Fiber Transport "
