How to configure Sharepoint Policy running on HyperV

Created: 09 Oct 2012 | 2 comments

Hi,

How do i go about configuring a sharepoint policy to backup my sharepoint running on HyperV.

I have 2 web and app HyperV machines in 1 server, my db is on another physical server.

So far i have see the link below and on the Netbackup Sharepoint documentation that is for VMware. There is nothing say about HyperV. Any ideas?

You have to follow traditonal way - intall NetBackup client on VMs and configure NetBackup for SharePoint backups.

I am in the midst of investigating Sharepoint technologies backup while guest OS running on hypervisor and it appears MS statement is that they do not support snapshots. either on hyper-v or vmware.

This was for Sharepoint 2010.

So traditional methods apply here at least for protecting Sharepoint, as some blog post have discussed corrupted data.

MS need to get act together on this front.

Tip: Get overview/document your NBU environment. Run 'nbsu' and review the output.
