Particularly to run a manual scan upon a folder/file??

I don't have such things on any computer or server with SEP installed.

Most current version SEP installed everywhere.

Thank you, Tom

Info

I assume these must be 64-bit machines? If so, this feature isn't an option. Unfortunately I don't have the technical reasons as to why though I know its not built in to the product.

hi

you can use doscan.exe

or if its 32 bit client you can right click and select " scan"

It is lame beyond belief that

It is lame beyond belief that such a simple thing is not available on x64.

Right-click scan is also not present upon x32 servers!!

HOW ARE we supposed to scan a folder in x64 servers??

Thank you, Tom

Info

You can create a custom scan via the SEP interface to scan whatever you want.

Typically the AP will scan anything that is accessed, so if a user is placing files AP will scan it or if a user is accessing it.

Anything you download gets scanned etc...if the file is on the machine we have scanned it. The rest is left to the default weekly scanner.

I realize this isn't the best answer TomMLS though it is what it is.

What should be is that x64

What should be is that x64 features etc. be brought up to par with x32.

I have seen other complaints on this forum to the overall effect Symantec skimped on x64 in this app.

We need to scan folders when users are not using them, therefore scan upon access or download is not helpful.

Thank you, Tom

Info

We know this is an issue, we have slated to add it in. I can't speak for our development team as I am not a member, though my guess is there are other issues taking priority such as defects and other items that don't actually work.

Product enhancement, aka feature additions, are typically a lower priority than defects.

That is a good reply. It is

That is a good reply.

It is increasingly reasonable now that almost all new Windows servers are 64-bit that feature parity should exist between x32 and x64.

Someone else did post a workaround that I can try...

Thank you, Tom

Tom, I must agree with John

Tom,

I must agree with John Prince. The main reason for not having a context menu scan option is an architecture of x64 OS. That does not mean it is not going to be introduced :-)

Here's the enhancement idea already submitted for the forum:

It is in status: In development. Please vote for the idea in order to make it more visible :-)

The last time I heard

The last time I heard anything the next major realease has parity for 32 and 64 bit features.

Not to say the dev teams priorities might change between now and the release date though
