Hi,

There is a need of creating customized table in my environment, cutomized tables are already exisitng on child NS but not on GRS now i have to create these customized tables on GRS. I have created these tables with the same criteria in the existing table but the table column data is not updating and when i opened the table it is showing the columns as Null. How to get this columns updated with the information.

can some one help me on this?

Have you tried to forward data from your child servers to the GRS server?

If so, did you see any error on the GRS log?

I have a doubt in forwarding the data to GRS from child servers.

Inventory forwarding rules are already existing in my environment, do i need to select the new dataclass which i have created on GRS in the inventory forwarding rule on Child NS?

But that dataclass is not existing in any of the child NS.

I am pretty new to the environment and trying all these for the first time so :(

In our environment, we have some "child NS" that are getting the data from the Altiris clients, and then, they are forwarding this information to the GRS. In theory, no Altiris agent is working with the GRS (the agent installed on the same GRS itself is configured to work with one of the child NS).

We forward all the data classes we need from the child NS, to appear in the GRS. We do NOT have any forward defined from the GRS to the child NS.

At least in Altiris 6, there is no need to create the new data classes on the GRS, as they will be created when the first forward from any of the child NS hits the GRS. In Altiris 7.0 and 7.1, I didn't test yet :(

One question: why did you created the data class in the GRS?

I got now, i just selected the dataclass in the inventory forwarding rule on Child NS. The data has been succesfully updated.

i have one more question here, does all the custom dataclasses will populate in Configuration tab->Resource settings-->Default Folder?

Because in my environment there is a report which is created using custom dataclasses on NS1, now i need to move this report to GRS. These dataclasses are not existing on GRS so I thought of forwarding this dataclass from NS1 to GRS but that dataclass is not poupulating under Configuration tab ->Resource settings.

Tell me how to forward this dataclass to GRS now?

As far as I know, the report will look at the tables in the database, no matter in which "Altiris folder" the data class is saved.

The data classes will be created on the GRS when they are forwarded from the child NS.

You can export the report from the child NS by right clikcing over the name, and select "Export" (if your user is allowed to do so). You'll get an .xml file you can copy to the GRS, and then import it there: for importing, right click over the name of the folder where you want the report to be placed, and click the "Import" option (again, your user must be allowed to import reports, if not, the Import option won't appear)

I knew that import and export dataclass to GRS and i already did that.

There is one more dataclass which i need to import it to GRS, i am able to see this dataclass in the altiris DB but not in the altiris console, so how to import this dataclass to GRS now?

Does all the custom dataclasses will appear in the console? In my case this custom dataclass is not appearing in the console but present in the altiris DB, so how to import this now.

I didn't face a situation like this :(

Once I have a similar problem, but the issue was that the data class was created in another folder. Have you tried to search in the Altiris console, for that data class?

In the Altiris 6.5 console, there is a "row" on the top of the page, in which you can see the Altiris logo, the text "altiris console" on the left part. In the middle, there is information about the name of the Altiris server, and the credentials logged in on the console, and at the right, there is a edit box in which you can type any object you need to find in the Altiris server. This row is just on top of the Altiris menu. Type the name of the data class you are looking for, and press Intro. If it is in the system, it will appear in the "search results window". Double click over the data class, and the console will show you in which folder the data class is saved.

If it doesn't appear, may be you have the table created, but not the "data class" itself. In this case, I would suggest to delete the table and create the data class again from scratch.

I am using Altiris 6.0, i have searched for the dataclass in the console using the search option but could not find any dataclass.

May be i need to try creating the new dataclass as you suggested.
