Asset Management Suite

Here is the scenario:

A user has a Computer with standard hostname "7180-OP01", this Computer is a DELL Optiplex XXXX with Serial Number: 12345678.

Where "7180" is the location, "OP" is the role and "01" is the resource number for the resource identification into the Company.

The user is upgraded to a new Computer in this case a Lenovo YYYY Serial Numer: 87654321 laptop and is given the same hostname.

What is happening... ?

I have one register into the SMP with Inventory Solution Information (Computer: Lenovo YYYY SN:87654321) and Asset Solution Information (Computer: DELL Optiplex XXXX SN:12345678). In this case "The Inventory to Asset syncronization task" doesn't work...

So I'm missing information when an asset have been replaced without a notification and I have to do a lot of work for backup and import information about all resources that they will be migrated before the replacement be done.

I don´t understand why the SMP merge automatically this resources using the hostname without ensure that is the same resource.

I can't change tha resource name because it's a Company requirement.

And I need to have all historical asset information without a complex process.

Any suggest?

I think you can stop having resources merge by name by turning off the scheduled task mentioned here:
