I (user, not admin) have backuped data thru netbackup client (java gui) ,  now i want to delete the unwanted data that from the tape. How can i selectively remove data from the tape.

for example, delete particular dir, files,  or whole backup by backup_id

Is it allowed for ordinary user ?

I know, that admin can expire backup. But is there something for user to remove own backup(archive) ( like in Tivoli Storage M.) ?

NetBackup admin required

Contact the NetBackup admin and request for the images to be expired.

Don't worry

No, you can't as a ordinary user expire backup.  Let the backup expire by itself. Deleting it will not release noticeable resources.

The way TSM and Netbackup work is very different and can't be directly compared.

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.
