  • 1.  How to deploy an image to a smaller hard drive on a virtual machine?

Hi, I'm very new to Altiris. We are currently using Altiris DS 7.1 SP2 in a school environment. I have created a disk image(x64) on a 500GB hard disk which has three partitions(39MB OEM partition, 11GB system recovery partition, and 470GB OS partition).

Now I want to use it as a master image and deploy it to another virtual machine which has 100GB hard disk(45GB C: drive and 50GB D: drive) on it. Is it possible to achieve this goal? If it is possible, how do I make it happen?

Look forward to your reply. Thanks.

Ghost will usually scale based on the proportions of the image, so you should be able to deploy without an issue.

You shouldn't have a problem. I've done it several times without setting anything specifically.

    Thanks guys.

My problem is the C: drive on the target virtual machine is too small(29GB) for the master image(30GB). I will try to make it bigger and give it a try.

I will update you with my result.

    Cheers.
