Unfortunately you can't change it. Just had a case with Symantec about it. It's not changeable in the current version, but they put it up as a feature request in upcoming releases.

I found that it is possible to rename the groups directly in the database, but I wouldn't recommend doing it since it can probably cause problems if calls to the groups are using the name instead of unique id of the group.

Thank you very much. Last version I used was MR1, so I thought that i had a problem in the installation procedure or something had to be changed in the IIS. Now i know way i didn't find the option

yep, you can't currently change it in MR3 - we changed it to be a bit more "friendly" - had lots of complaints that people didn't particularly understand "Global" and "Temporary" so we renamed them.

You could potentially hack the DB to rename them (we use the GUID's internally) but its not supported.  We have this as a requirement for a future version.

Sorry to grave did this

Sorry to grave did this thread.

For such a major change and I cannot see it documented in the SEP11 release notes is there a reason for this to be ommited for the release notes?

This is the link I am using for the relase notes. https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/comment/re...

Having spent weeks creating support documentation with screenshots and references for deployment in our organisation, it's more than infuriating to see such a significant change made, without the ability to revert these group names back to Global and Temporary.

I agree the original names may not have been perfect, but forcing this name change will now create a re-write of this work for us, and I'm sure many difficulties for other customers. Aren't these options considered when managing significant changes in the software?

Hi,
is this solved in MR4?

I'm still in MR3 and wanted to know in order to upgrade or not.

Thanks
Oliver

The Rename command remains dimmed for "My Company" and "Default Group" in MR4.

Is it in 11.0.5?  If so, it may get me to move faster on installing this update.
