I have netbackup 6.0Mp4 server which is also media server and EMM server. (01backup)
Now I have new tape robot and new server that is going to handle this tape robot. (02backup)

How do I configure this new media server? (02backup)

I have install netabackup server on new system.
When it ask me "is 02backup master server"  I said no

But on NBU GUI I can't see anything anymore.

01backup's bp.confi file has this new server listed as media server

[root@01backup netbackup]# cat bp.conf
SERVER = 01backup
EMMSERVER = 01backup
MEDIA_SERVER = 01backup
MEDIA_SERVER = 02backup

02backup's bp.conf file is straigtforward
SERVER = 01backup
CLIENT_NAME = 02backup
EMMSERVER = 01backup

Am I missing something?

Probably start with the sgscan command to see if you can see the new robot and associated drives.

If you can see it then you can either use tpconfig or bring up the GUI (unde the top level of the 01backup media server) and add in the new devices.

If you cannot see the devices with sgscan you will proably have to run devfsadm (on Solaris) to get the OS to see the devices.  You will the need to run sg.build to get you sg drivers setup.

Hope that helps.

Hi Cgg,

Have a look at:
DOCUMENTATION: How to use the "nbemmcmd -addhost" command to add a media server to a VERITAS NetBackup (tm) 6.0 environment.
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/279049.htm
----------------------------------------------------------------
nbemmcmd -addhost

NBEMMCMD, Version:6.0MP5(20060530)
The following option is required and was not specified:
machinename
Usage:
nbemmcmd -addhost  [-activenodename <string>] [-brief] [-clustername <string>]
[-displayname <string>] [-emmname <string>] [-emmport <unsigned integer>]
[-globaldriveseed <string>] [-localdriveseed <string>]
[-machinedescription <string>] [-machineflags <unsigned integer>]
-machinename <string> [-machinestate <unsigned integer>]
-machinetype <api | app_cluster | cluster | master | media | ndmp>
[-masterserver <string>] [-netbackupversion <<level>.<major level><minor level>>]
[-operatingsystem <hpux | linux | rs6000 | sgi | solaris | tru64 | windows>]
[-scanability <unsigned integer>]
NOTE: -netbackupversion is required for machine types server, master,
      and media.
Command did not complete successfully.

Hope this helps..
Regards
Philipp

I have added this host as media server using nbemmcmd

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbemmcmd -listhosts
NBEMMCMD, Version:6.0MP5(20060530)
The following hosts were found:
server      01backup
master      01backup
media       02backup
Command completed successfully.

Both are redhat linux system and I can see devices for tape robot and tape drive. Only when I start guI I do not have permission or anything.

cat /proc/scsi/scsi

On GUI, within Host Properties / Master Servers / {select master server} / Servers is new media server added to 'Media Servers' ?
Are other additional servers correct? ( i.e "Servers that can access the currently selected host" )
Same for Media Servers.

Hi Andy
both are in that list 01backup and 02backup as media servers.

This is fixed. I was trying to find my devices on media server but I had to configure this via master server.
