How do I fix a corrupt PCAnywhere Install?

Created: 20 Jul 2012 • Updated: 24 Jul 2012 | 3 comments

I installed PCAnywhere 12.5 on a Windows 7 system, but the application of SP1 failed. I've been chasing the situation and now have a completely hosed installation.  I can't uninstall from Add/Remove programs because PCAnywhere is not listed.  I can't reinstall because the installer reports that a later version is already installed.  The SP1 installer tells me I don't have an installation to upgrade.

I'm probably stuck doing a manual removal.  Is there a procedure available for this?

Of course a simpler solution would be even better.

Thanks.

Hi,

You could reinstall the pca plugind, using the following command lines with administrative rights:

  • To uninstall: pcAClientInstallManagerexe /uall
  • To install: pcAClientInstallManager /iall

You will find the pcAClientInstallManager.exe at \\altiriservername\nscap\bin\win32\x86\pcAgent

I waded into the registrry and started deleting references to PCAnywhere.  Eventually it let me reinstall.

Thanks.
