How do I get "Search for clients" to actually search?

I've been experimenting with the "Search for clients" function in the SEP Console.  I think I know how it's supposed to work, but none of the search criteria that I use seem to make much difference in the results that are displayed.  No matter what Search field, comparison operator, or value I plug in, the Query Results show all the computers at our site (or sometimes half of them, which makes even less sense...).

Extreme example; I set:

  • Search field to "Group Update Provider"
  • Comparison Operator to "="
  • Value to "True"

Logically, I would expect this query to return no clients, since we have not set up any GUPs at our site.  Instead, I got 74 pages of results!  What am I doing wrong?

What is that you want  to search for?

If you want to search for a client, then you can select, computer name, =, and " the name of the  computer".
