  • 1.  How do I manually verify LA from logs and Vir Def files ?

    Posted Jan 28, 2009 07:16 AM

In the test rig, we have recently changed theconfig settings of our client PCs as well as radia auto update settings.

This is for test scripts, If someone could please help me out here:

How do I verify the LA has performed correctly

    - from downloads files (i.e after download but before update )

    - fromVirus Def files ( after update)

Or in other words using a shell script and manually checking somewhere outside the corp environment) how would someone verify client machine for most recent updates by just looking at the local file system of client PCs. This is purely for due diligence purpose.

    a) NAVServer corp

    b) via Symatec public website.

    - liveupdt.grd

    - livetri.zip

    Hi,

The files are downloaded in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate\Downloads

Check if you have a file/folder with a recent timestamp to determine if the updates were downloaded or not. The most recent zip file in this folder contains the updates that were downloaded in thast session. open the zip file, you will see a file called livetri. open that with notepad, check all the entries there to determine the actual update files that were downloaded in that session. Check if you have those files in that same area.

There is no way to check if those updates were succesufully installed or not. You could check the liveupdate log file in case there were errors while installing the update. Liveupdate log file is at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate\Log.liveupdate

    thanks,
