hello, I forgot my windows 7 password and I cannot remember it for the life of me. I do not have a password recovery disk and I am the admin to my computer..as I have the only account.  I've tried looking up multiple programs to reset my password from booting by disk..but it's all trial and wont let me do anything else..any help?

Is this a client machine with altiris on it that you want to reset the windows password for, or a unmanaged machine? Also which screen can you get upto? bitlocker screen, windows logon a boot login?

if its a managed machine you should be able to create a task with a net user command which would do it (if you have no other security in place).

You can download a windows 7 iso for free on the microsoft website if you want o rest the password in safe mode (theres loads of guides online for that). if none of the above work, your probably posing in the wrong forum.

It is not recommended to download Windows 7 ISO becuase it would take too much time. Actually, you can make a password reset disk with USB or DVD and this can be done in a few minutes. You can check this simple tutorial (reset windows 7 password), which is the easiest one for users who don't know too much about tech. 

P.S. If the computer was in a network, then you can ask network administrator to reset password.

As the trial version of that product does not allow you to reset passwords, you will have to buy it first.  Yes, a 4GB USB drive should be sufficient. 

I use the Himens Boot CD for Windows 7 local password changes, as its a free tried and tested product.
