This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi People,

Can anyone please assist me in configuring the Enterprise Vault 9.0.4 monitoring page so that It can be monitored through the browser outside the RDP session ?

Thanks

Hello John,

Not sure what you mean, but here is my attempt.

I assume that the browser and the EV-server are in the same domain, and assume you have configured monitoring (as you indicate that you can access the page on the EV-server itself). Be advised that it might be that you need to add the account you start the IE with to a role in EV. My personal account is in the 'PowerAdministrator' role.

To access to webmonitoring on the EV-server, from a browser, you should be able to use:

http://IPADDRESS/monitoringwebapp/default.aspx

It is necessary to use the IP-Address of the EV-server, not the alias or machinename.

I am able to monitor EV-servers accross Europe using this.

Gertjan,

Is it possible to grant more than one person or user to have access to this page ?

Because when I go to Start > Programs > Enterprise Vault > Operations Manager Web App Configuration.

it granted successfully the access for the EV service account.

so for 15 of my IT department team members, do I need to repeat that steps above 15x ?

Kind regards,

Hello John,

It should be, but I need to dig up old documentation. I believe people need to be in an EV-group to be able to see it, and obviouslu have access to the webpage. From the top of my head, I've placed a group containing helpdesk people in the 'power administrators group' (lazy solution :-) ) which worked. You can make groups yourself in EV, but not too sure about what is needed at the minimum at the moment.

Gertjan is correct on how to access it.  But if you have not yet configured EVOM you can follow this TN:

Running the Enterprise Vault Operations Manager Configuration utility
padding: 1px;padding-bottom: 3px ;font: 12px Arial; text-align: left;">Article:HOWTO58355 padding: 1px;font: 12px Arial; text-align: left;"> |  padding: 0px;font: 12px Arial; text-align: left;">Created: 2011-08-01 padding: 1px;font: 12px Arial; text-align: left;"> |  padding: 1px;font: 12px Arial; text-align: left;">Updated: 2013-01-18 padding: 1px;font: 12px Arial; text-align: left;"> |  padding: 1px;font: 12px Arial; text-align: left;">Article URL http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO58355

You will want to have an EVOM account to use, this is just a domain account with no special permissions.

yes that is what I'm talking about.

at the moment it is only available inside the RDP session to the EV server, not from my laptop even with the IP address.

Try deleting the monitoringwebapp virtual directory then use the monitoringconfig executable to recreate it and try again

Just as a matter of interest, what is the error you are getting when going to http://yourEVServer/monitoringwebapp/ ?
