This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

I'm using Patch Management Solution 7.1.2307 (as a component of a CMS installation) and I would like to know to manually force the installation of a patch (for example a Microsoft one) without waiting for the normal workflow of the solution.

What is necessary to happen after I create a software update policy? (I create it by marking a software bulletin and selecting the "distribute package" option).

I would like to know the normal behaviour (step-by-step) and if is it possible to accelerate it.

Thanks.

Hi ManelR,

If you need to have the update installed fast you may try the following scenario

  1. Create a policy with (by selecting "distribute package" option) and check "Run (other than agent default)" checkbox in Package Options settings. Make sure you have selected "As soon as possible" option
  2. Wait till the executon of "NS.Windows Patch Remediation Settings" task from Windows Task Scheduler (usually it is configured to repeat every 30 minutes)
  3. Now open Symantec Management Agent on the targeted PC, go to Settings and click on "Update" button.
  4. Your agent will get the policy with distributed agent and once the agent will download this update the installation will start.

Thanks,

Dmitri
