How to format text file for use with client deployment wizard

Created: 27 Sep 2013 | 10 comments

HEllo  I hope you guys can help.  I have to update 500 pc and am using the Client Deployment Wizard to do this.  After I have loaded the package i go to the computer selection screen.  I choose to use the search the network tab and select the find computers button at the bottom.  Then I choose Imports computer list from file.  I select my tab delimited text file (see attached) but I get an error message saying there are errors in my file.  Have I formatted this wrong?  See attachment.  Can you please help me?

Did you do it in the format it asks for?

hostname <tab> IP address

I believe you can also do it by either hostname or IP address as well.

I usually do it by just hostname

I have the IP first<tab>ipaddress

like this:

10.224.56.125<tab>pcname

does it matter if IP is first?

Not sure, but you can try it. Per the screenshot it looks like it may want that format.

it should be one IP address or one Host name per line Only.

Either remove the IP or the host name... it will work

I think there is a space after each IP.

are you using notepad or copy paste from excel?

10.0.0.1

After .1 there should not be any space.

"Thumbs Up" to Rafeeq.  It's one entry per line; hostname or IP.
