How to get ASF or AMT working with CMS???

Hi,

I would like anyone to share their experience with configuring managed computers with ASF or AMT. The Altiris CMS(Out of Band discovery) seems to be working fine - the discovery task is assigned to the Agent, but the problem is that filter does not show up any Intel AMT capable computers.

So I am thinking that I have problems with enabling this feature on managed computers, because it does not show up in BIOS. I am also using plugin NIC-Card(which supports ASF), because integrated did not.

I am not sure where to continue. Do I have to reflash to appropriate BIOS to enable this feature? Does it work well with external NIC cards? Any other ideas?

Here are my Hardware specs:
1)Motherboard: Asus P5KR with Intel Quad Core Q6600
2)Plug-in NIC: Intel 82541PI Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Regards,
Ansis

No Bios Update

I would guess there is no bios update to enable this functionality since it is not an Intel VPro motherboard with the functionality built into the chipset.
I also believe AMT (Active Management Technology) is strictly for the VPro devices, but am not sure on that.

If I remember correctly, you need to enable ASF through the Intel Pro Center software or through the NIC properties.  Once enabled, I am not sure if they would show up as ASF enabled devices in the console or not.

You could probably script enabling ASF on these devices as well.  If this was the case, you could create a collection based on the NIC in the device.  Then, create a software package to include your script and have it execute on each device.
