How to get Backup Reporter working!

Hi Guys,
I got my license at long last for Backup Reporter.
I am trying to figure this out. I'd like to know if it can do the following:
1. Report on all servers as to job status?
2. Show an aggregated status for backup jobs (x-amount failed; x-amount successful etc).
3. Report directly from a CASO server and give the above information (which means I don't need a license per server).
I am really struggling to get it to show any data. Will it show data from backup jobs from months ago when I have just installed the application today? Or can I only start reporting from when I have installed it?
The documentation isn't too helpful, so I am going to rely on experience here!

1. Yes, there's a canned report for that. Reports tab-->Backups sub-tab-->Status folder-->Job Status folder-->Historical or Distribution, whatever you prefer. You can also play around with the Custom backup reports (Reports-->Custom) and design your own reports, which is usually where I spend my time. =)
2. Yes. See above, the distribution pie chart will tell you both success (0) and failures.
3. Nope, haven't seen any mention of CASO interaction. Your license will support 'x' number of clients to report on.
As for your other question, VBR knows everything that your Masters know as of the date it starts querying them. So, it'll pull image data from the NetBackup Master's catalogs from 1/1/1970 until that day and pick up everything that hasn't expired. For the jobs data, it's only going to be able to pull whatever is currently visible in your activity monitor.
You might also want to check out ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/Bac... for a quick overview of the canned reports and what they'll look like - much faster than running each of them to see what they kick out.
Hope that helps.

OK, I am at the end of my tether with this application now. I thought this was going to be a simple case of installing it, installing the agents, and running reports.
So far, a test report shows I have no successful jobs on Backup Exec 12.5, while I know there have been. Other reports simply show No Data! How do Symantec expect something like this to work? Their normal reports in Backup Exec are pitiful! I want something central that I can pull reports from on a monthly basis, not from 30 servers around the world!!!!!
My latest queries:
1. How do I get this application to work with Backup Exec? I've found NOTHING in the documentation. All I want are simple success/failure reports, nothing to do with costing etc.
2. Are there steps I need to go through in order to get this working correctly?
Thanks!

Craig, Check the Agent Status
Craig,
Check the Agent Status to see if it is actually collecting any information from your BE environment.
VBR isn't exactly a 'simple' tool.
I have a BE server and have yet to get the Agent working on it (thankfully it is a test system).
Might be time to call support.
Eish! Ja, I see it isn't
Eish! Ja, I see it isn't simple. The documentation is, quite honestly, VERY sparse with information.

Guys, I canned the idea of using Veritas Backup Reporter. We modified a page on our intranet that the guys now use to log backup status for their respective sites.
This was pulled quickly due to the time being wasted on using it. If only it was easier to use and set up, we would have gone for it.
Thanks very much for the help!
