  • 1.  How to get rid of the 'Unlock Disk' prompt from secondary HD?

    Hi,

Do you know how I could get rid of the 'Unlock Disk' prompt from a secondary (internal) HD ?

    Context:

    • That HD was PGP encrypted in the past with Symantec Encryption Desktop.
    • As it got stuck during the PGP decryption process and its data was unreable I decided to wipe out all its content by reformating it.
    • I don't know what its password was.

What I am trying to do is:

#01: To make sure that HD is completely clean and has nothing on it though I got that 'Unlock Disk' prompt.

#02 Later I want to use it as a secondary disk (D:) and re-install Symantec Encryption Desktop PGP Disk on my Primary internal HD (C: system) and this HD as Secondary Internal HD (D: Data).

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Regards.
    Alex

    By searching online...

As the current OS of my machine is Windows 7 64 bit it seems that I could totaly clean up my disk with Windows Diskpart (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diskpart). That is what I started now, I will add a comment as soon it's finished (takes a while as it depends from the disk' size, mine is (SSD) 465 GB).

    ...to be continued / Alex

Using Diskpart, be sure to use the 'clean all' command.  Just using 'clean' may leave some encryption information on the drive, preventing re-encryption later.
