Hi,
Q. Can anyone tell me How the GUP is designed and configured ?
--> GUP is specifically designed to provide updates to remote clients. It's designed to save bandwidth between remote sites and central location.
Clinets should not cross the WAN link to receive definitions updates/ to utilize bandwidth.
The current iteration of the GUP role can be configured to support up to 10,000 clients. Previous to SEP MR3, the GUP was only capable of supporting up to 100 clients or 1,000 clients with SEP MR4. To ensure that the GUP is capable of updating a large number of clients, you may need to configure the GUP to handle more than the default
If using SEP 12.1 & having more than 10,000 clients then will have to implement additional SEPM on that site.
Q. If I am going to planning and designed GUP for any organization then what are things need to consider.
---> You should first decide how many GUP you would required. logically each site should have 1 gup and configure failover if that GUP fails.
