How to import BESR Folder backup job to BESRM
Hi,
I am facing a problem in importing BESR Folder backup job to BESR Manager. I have about 20 BESR 8.5 machines, upon which i also installed a BESR Manager 8.5. All are W2k3 machine.
The issue is, i am not able to find any option to import or create backup job of a single file/folder from Manager. Manager only provides me an option to create/import drive level recovery point.
Do anyone went through this circumstances.

You cannot use BESRM for File/Folder backups I'm afraid - you can only do drive-based backups.
How to import BESR Folder backup job to BESRM
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I was also afraid of that as i was not able to find any doc or webpage which focus up on this. The BESRM user guide to not speak anything about File/Folder level backup creation or monitoring. Do you have any webpage link which says the same this?
Thanks again,
Anuj.

HI
Hi Chris,
I am sorry but this webpage do not highlight what i wanted to read. My concern is that if BESRM can monitor the file/folder level backup job (which is created on BESR).
BESRM proving me to monitor only Drive level (i.e. recovery points) backups.

Anuj, That TechNote clearly
Anuj,
That TechNote clearly states that you cannot use BESRM with File/Folder backups:
Backup Exec System Recovery Manager need not to be used if:
The Backup Exec System Recovery file and folder backups ability is to be used
In other words, you cannot create or monitor File/Folder based backups from BESRM.
Does that answer your question?
Hey Chris, As the mechanism
As the mechanism isn’t pliable, it appears to me that the best solution would be to refine your configuration and storage method to allow you to still achieve your end goal withing the confinds of their system. You only what to back up your files and folders. Easy enough. Repartition your disk, add a second disk, or reparation a second disk.
You might even be able to trick the OS/Applications into still treating your files as if they were in the default location by using pointer to the new location similar to what Microsoft did in Vista for legacy default storage locations (i.e. “Documents and settings” in Vista is really just a point to “Users”). Additionally you can experiement with mapped drive letters to folders or use cmd switches ike those below to map a drive letter to a folder location.
subst M: C:\Documents and Settings\Mark\My Documents\My Music
subst W: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot
subst F: C:\Inetpub\ftproot
Think on it and you’ll probably come up with something.
