How to Increase Retention Time in Activity Monitor

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am trying to increase the retention time for Activity Monitor when dealing with a Linux based appliance? This is our first experience with an appliance, and I am pretty new to the Linux world (rest of our NetBackup environment is Windows based). So far I have installed putty so I can connect to the appliance and believe that the configuration changes I need to make are with the KEEP_JOBS_HOURS = <hours> settings inside the bp.conf file, but from there I am unsure how to make the changes to the file itself inside Linux. Can someone with some Linux experience let me know if I am in the right ballpark and if so help me out on the commands I need to make the changes?

Sounds correct, you can use 'vi' but you will need to be familiar with how to use it.

Do you have shell access on your appliance with root access?

Make sure you make a copy of your bp.conf first

cd /usr/openv/netbackup

cp bp.conf bp.conf.<todays date>

edit the file.

Thanks to both of you. Both of your answers helped me out in some way so I had to flip a coin on how got the solution and Revaroo won.

Thanks again for the help.
