how can i increase it w/o upgrading my system

Go To run Type

Go To run
Type Msconfig-startup-then unclick unwantes blocks
this will surely increase speed of ur system

Go To run Type

 Go to run type %temp% & delete all the content on the temp folder.

Try using MSconfig to reduce

Try using MSconfig to reduce the number of programs that run at startup. Also you can try defragmenting your hard drive. If all else fails, try reinstalling your operating system. If that fails, try using a less resource hungry operating system such as Ubuntu.
