Follow these to configure a GUP for your environment:

    Configuring Group Update Providers

Configuring the Group Update Provider (GUP) in Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 RU5 and later

You can use the GUP monitor. Download it here for 12.1 or 11.x:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH156558

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/downloads/new-sep-content-distribution-monitor-gup-health-checking

You can also use advanced filtering using the SYLINK keyword to see the activity:

Here's the Symantec article on it as well:

    Hello!

    To configure a GUP:

Edit the Liveupdate policy for the group that the GUP and the clients that should use the GUP:

    SEPGUP.JPG

    Click ok, and thats it!

To verify that the computer that should serve as a GUP really has got the config, just check it properties:

    SEPGUP2.JPG

To check that the clients really are using the GUP, go to Monitor - Logs:

    SEPGUPREPORT1.JPG

And in the log you should see:

If you are using a firewall on the GUP then the port used must be opened, default is 2967.

    Good luck!
