  • 1.  How to Install SQL Express 2008??

    In Altiris 6.5, I was using SQL Express 2005 and pretty much had no issues. Since the new version of Altiris came out, I've been installing with SQL Express 2008. When installing Altiris, I eventually get the error attached. I'm guessing it's an SQL error and I'm wondering if I'm not installing SQL Express 2008 correctly. Any suggestions?

    I'm getting the exact same message trying to install to SQL Express 2005

    I am still running 2005 Express with no problems. I have found that the DB installation is touchy no matter what. I would suggest you may have to clean registry entries. Sometimes I was not sure what caused the initial failure, but, no matter what, once it fails, it will always fail until the \microsoft\SQLServer and MSSQL entries from the registry; HKLM\software section. This was in KB article 3514.
