This issue has been solved. See solution.

We're deploying a number of WM 6.1 phones in an MDM2008 environment. We've signed and deployed a number of software packages through Deployment Manager,  Mobile Security 5.1 being one of them. Our problem has been trying to connect the clients to System Center with the Symantec mobile plugin to set the update/scan/log retrieval. The phones are nodes on our intranet and activesync to our Exchange environment - can't find the phones in System Center node lookup or IP lookup. Has anyone had any success importing phones into System Center to manage them?

I don't know enough about the specifics of your network, however I can provide a somewhat generic answer that may apply.

The Mobile Security Symantec System Center plugin is meant to work as follows.  The mobile device syncs with a PC running Symantec Antivirus through ActiveSync.  The information from the Mobile Security product is transfered to the PC through ActiveSync.  When the Symantec Antivirus Client heartbeats (checks in) with it's parent Symantec Antivirus Server the Mobile Security data is sent to the Symantec Antivirus server.  At that point it becomes part of the log data available to the SAV server and you can work with it through the plugin.  Sending data to the phone works in a similar manner.  For an answer more specific to your environment and product configuration please open a support case so we can research the issue further.
