  • 1.  How to migrate large number of Symantec Endpoint Protection V11 clients to SEPMv12

    Posted Mar 19, 2015 07:35 AM

We are hit with a situation to move about 1000 SEPv11 clients to be managed by SEPMv12 in a very short time.

We use method to replace sylink.xml using the replace tool and also asking the user to do it manually, but we can only move no more than 30 a day.

Do we have a quick way of doing it ?

Drop the names into a text file and load into the 12.1 SEPM and push out a new sylink...see here:

If they are still point at an old SEPM 11 manager easiest way I found was to upgrade this to the same version as the new SEPM 12 manager. Then link up the SEPM through replication and then repoint all the SEPM clients to the new SEPM using management server list. Policies > Policy Components > Management Server Lists.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

I would strongly recommend to upgrade the existing SEPM to the latest version. After that there are couple of scenerios to consider

    1) SEPM is having same hostname and IP address.

    2) SEPM server has a different IP and same hostname

    OR

SEPM server has a same IP and different hostanme

    3) SEPM server has a differenet IP and different hostname.

I would suggest you to go through this article.

If planning to install as a fresh install that is also possible, need to push Sylink.xml or new package on 30 clients per day according to that this process will take around 1 months time to migrate all 1000 clients.
