You specify selection criteria in the 1st tab of the Vault profile.

Manianne provided the answer,

Manianne provided the answer, have you been able to look in the Vault profile ?

Here is a picture ...

You select the criteria that images must match to be consider for the vault process.

For Vault to work properly, the process and functionality of vault MUST be understood, and design work MUST be carried out so that the

correct images are selected.

The best place to start is here ...

At the bottom are the links to the documentation, choose your version, and then download the vault admin guide.

Main thing for the tapes to

Main thing for the tapes to be chosen are Time Assigned tab of the media. For example if your tape has assigned for backup on Feb 09th and your criteria on the vault profile (as you seen in above screenshot) is:

Backup started: between 2 days 0 hours ago and 0 days...

When vault runs on Feb 10th or Feb 11th it will pick up the above mentioned (written on 09th Feb) tape. If something happens and your tape will not be ejected, on Feb 12th vault will not eject the tape.

So, main thing is time of backup (time assigned).

And other selection which are shown in the screenshot, like which policy, which volume pool, from which media server, which retention and etc can be chosen to if you want to give more specific selection criteria, but those can be just all (everything)

PUNEET/NIKHIL2346565959

Have you been able to download the Vault Admin Guide as suggested?

Did we manage to explain what 'selection criteria' means?

(Martin went the extra mile and posted a screenshot.)

Amaan - Assign Time is the first time a backup is written to a tape. If any images are added/appended, the Assign time is no longer relevant. The time that the images were written is what is relevant in 'Choose Backups' tab.

Marianne makes a good point

Marianne makes a good point about the assign time of the tape.  After the first backup, it is meaningless ...

BUT ...

... we do use it in support, for example during NBCC analysis ...
