After duplicating a tape, what commands are necessary to promote the duplicated tape to
the primary and then delete the previous primary tape under Netbackup 5.1

Simply bpexpdate the primary copy and the secondary (duplicate) copy will automatically be promoted to become the new primary copy.

I guess the next question could be "how to expire primary copy?".

(use bpexpdate -backupid <backup_id> -copy <number>, and the <number> should be 1, right Bob?)

In case needed, promoting other copy to primary can be done using

bpimage -npc <copy number> -backupid <backup_id>.
