How to PXE boot HP Mini 5103

  • 1.  How to PXE boot HP Mini 5103

We just purchased a group of HP Mini 5103 Laptops, however had troubles using PXE to capture an image of the units.

The Laptops have a Marvell Yukon 88E8059 NIC adapter onboard.

our issue was that the PXE would load, however would not authenticate and communicate with the Altiris DS.

    Which normally means wrong Driver.

However, after dealing with Marvell, searching on the Net, and conacting Altiris support, it was found that the drivers were fine, however the system was stuck trying to load the broadcom 43224AG wireless network card drivers, instead of the Marvell NIC first.

Disabling the Wireless fixed the issue...

However this is not ok, for a mass of the units we plan to use wireless on.

The fix was simply to install the broadcom 43224AG drivers into the Altiris Driver Database, and add them to the PXE image.

Now we have a working PXE image, with the Laptop in its original state.

Thanks everyone for the input from other posts and sources.
