How to reboot host computer on a dial-up connection

cherokee251's picture
Using pcAnywhere 12.0 on two Win XP machines.  I manage the host computer on a dial-up internet connection from my always-on DSL remote connection.  No problems EXCEPT when I need to reboot the host.  Re-booting the host disconnects the host from the internet.  Since I am managing this computer after business hours, no one is there to re-connect so I can resume a remote session.  CAN a dial-up host be rebooted and reconnected to?  How?

Try configuring Host to launch with windows. To do this goto host properties->Settings Tab & select "Launch with windows".So after your machine gets re-booted, host will automatically gets launched & will be in waiting state on your dial up.

Thank you so much!  I will give it a try Monday and post if it works.

I am sorry it has taken me so long getting back to this.  I configured the host to launch with Windows and rebooted, but this did not work.  Not being there in person, I can't guarantee that the operator did what I instructed, but believe she did.  I am of the opinion that the host may have launched with Windows, but that doesn't get me an internet connection on that end so I can connect to the host.

Any more ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Cherokee251,
We tried the same scenario in our lab with host(Setting "Launch with windows"  ) waiting on dial up connection. We connected to this host from a remote which is also on dial up.After a successful remote session, we restarted the host machine from the session itself. And when host machine restarted, we again tried connection to this host & connection established. Is this the same way you are doing the remote control?
So here are few more information which you can provide us.
Is there any error appearing on your host machine, that could not restart modem?
As far as pcA is concerned if host is launched properly on dial up, connection should established.

Thanks & Regards,
Asj
