  • 1.  How to recover the disk space in SEP MR4

    Posted Sep 15, 2009 03:36 AM
We are running our SEPM on windows 2000 server where we allocated 15 gigs of disk space.
Now when I logged into this server today I am getting notifications that the C: drive is running out of space.  Our C:\Program Files\Symantec\ folder appears to be the one that is taking up most of the free space .

Please tell me is there any way to rocover free space.

check the inetpub folder and see if can can delete somethign from here.

File system cleanup for 32-bit SESC Virus Definitions:

    1. Stop SEPM server service.

    2. Go to C:\program files\symantec\symantec endpoint protection manager\Inetpub\content\{C60DC234-65F9-4674-94AE-62158EFCA433}" folder and move all of the subfolders to another place move to other drive if like or else. delete the sub-folders.

let me know the size of your inetpub folder.

Try to reduce the no of content revisions to keep in SEPM For this login to SEPM go to admin tab-->Servers-->Local Site click on site properties -->Live update tab Here under Disk space management you will get this option.

Check the sub folders.. find out which folder is occupying more space...

If live update folder is large there might be some currupt definition. you can clear them.

If content folder is large, then you can reduce the number of content to keep under sepm console.
Login toSEPM--> Admin---> Servers---> Local site properties--->Live update settings--->Disk space management for download.
Reduce the number of content as per ur need... (This will delete the some data from inetpub\content folder)

If you are using embedded database you can shrink the database.

If you are using Local MS SQL database then sem5 database files can be moved.(If installed in C drive).
    Stop SEPM service.
Login to MS SQL management studio.
    Detach the SEM5 database.
Move the SEM5 related files under "Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data" folder to disk where there sufficient disk space.
attach the database in management console using sem5.mdf file in other disk.
    Start the SEPM service.

    HI

    Please go to the Folder: C:\program files\symantec\symantec endpoint protection manager\inetpub\content\{C60DC234-65F9-4674-94AE-62158EFCA433}

Let us know how how many folders do you see there?

Ideally there should be 4, at the max 5 folders. If you see more than that, then you can go to Admin->Servers-> highlight local site-> Site properties-> Liveupdate

At the bottom of the page, what is the current number under "Number of revisions to Keep"?

We always see that if the number is  more than 5, it may develope similar symptooms as to what you have described in the discussion forum.

    Best,
    Aniket
