  • 1.  How to recover hidden or closed "panes" in CCS 11.0 console

    So, you have been clicking around the console and accidentally or on purpose hit "Hide" (or a little "x" next to the autohide button) instead of Autohide on the caption bar of one of the following panes:

    -  Jobs Filter View

    -  Browse Jobs View

    -  Jobs Property Tabs View

    (or any other pane for that matter) and you would like to know how to recover these panes.  Well, what may have been a small oversight (on a certain software vendors' part) has cost me 2 hours trying to rectify it and I finally found the answer.  Credit to cmccoy2.

    You can browse to the following path on the server or computer hosting the "broken" console:

    C:\Users\**USER FOLDER**\AppData\Local\Symantec\CCS\Preferences\

    In that folder, you will delete the folder with a GUID name starting with "Url.".

    e.g. Url.NB2HI4B2F4354HYEW4H65J3LBNZ2GKYZOMNXW2===

    Restart the console and boom, you have all your panes back.

    Note to self - DON'T HIDE THE PANES FOR ANY REASON.  THE AUTOHIDE FEATURE WILL MOVE THE PANE OUT YOUR WAY.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Any idea when Symantec is going to fix this? In a PCU or a Service Pack?

    I will pose that question to the engineers this week and update this post.

    Symantec have said that there are a few major changes coming in the next release currently expected in May of this year.

    The speculation includes a web-based administration interface.
