How to remote deploy SP1 for Windows 7?

Created: 20 Sep 2012 | 2 comments

Hi,

should i install SP1 for my managed computer by Patch management or software delivery?

If it is by software delivery, how can I configure the detection rule to filter our the installed PC?

Thanks.

I don't think Patch supports Service Packs.

Your detection rule should be Windows Version Standard Rule

Check Windows version and/or machine role

Major: 6 Minor:1

Service pack major: 1 Service pack minor: 0

Machine role: NT Workstation

Hi andykn101

I completly agree on the detection rule, and i also prefer to rollout Service Packs with Software Management Solution but since Patch Management Solution 7.1 SP1 rollout of Service Packs are also supported.

@isaacho

There is also a very good HOWTO Articel about installing Service Pack 3 for WINXP with a example for a detection rule: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO21576  Maybe this Process has changed since Patch Management 7.0 but i think its very similar to the actual Patch Management Version 7.1 SP2
